Please go there to see larger original versions. Left side umbilical shown at left, right side shown at right. These are on the aft compartment of the orbiter, just below the OMS pods and just ahead of the aft end of the orbiter. In some photos the basic color of the T-0 umbilical plate is chromate green, in more recent flights it is a discolored white as in the pics shown. Photos by Phil Broad, used with permission.  The photos were manipulated in Adobe PhotoDeluxe to make them more rectangular (bottommost below), then traced over in MacDraw to generate the patterns below. Some obvious or apparent non-flight status details such as cover plates, caps, and tape were not included in the drawing. The GIF below is at 1/18 scale, for 1/72 scale print or resize to 25%.
