Welcome sign at the Maj hotel

The winning S4 model of Michal Zitnan of Slovakia. A scissor-flop wing, one of very few that boosted reasonably well. Used Ceto single channel radio gear, very light single channel with magnetic actuator (the silver medal model was also similar to this). Impressive that he could control it well enough to max in the later rounds in the winds, also considering the Ceto micro radio only has a range of about 500-600 feet.

An electronic timer sold for dethermalizing in S4. It's a fixed timer, the 4:19 means it fires 4 minutes & 19 seconds after the black pin is pulled (S4 max is 4 mins). Fires a very low current electric match (match at upper left was fired). Mass: 2.4 grams for timer, .8 grams for long-lead match. Size 1.02 x .39 x .17". Uses one battery cell removed from a 12 volt (8 cell) photo battery, good for 3 firings.

Some of the scenery from the Grand hotel, where the US team stayed in Slovakia.

More scenery, during a rest stop.
