Sport models

Back to Main WSMC CD

A couple of sport models. Some other notable ones have servos in them and are shown elsewhere
Pumpkin Chute rocket.. Actually the third one. First two were BT-101 and used Little Joe Apollo capsules.

This one uses extra 4.6" tubes from the old NCR shuttle kit and a reject ET vac-formed nose cone.

Flies on anything from E15's to G's

The thing that makes it the Pumpkinchute rocket is what's inside it, not the color.

Halloween Jack-O-Lantern leaf bag converted to a bag chute. For the face to be upright, the bottom is cut open and the top sealed like the bottom used to be, by careful use of tape.

Small drogue helps yank the big chute out. Big chute rolled & packed tightly so it slides out easily.
Shroud line attachment was done by laying 1.5" long 1/16" music wire along the edge of the plastic (Perpendicular to the shroud line), and securing it by laying 2" clear package tape over the inside and outside edges of the plastic. Small hole cut into the tape at the middle of the wire to allow the shroud line to be tied in place

Tri-F-O as a 3-stage model. Normal Tri-F-O in middle, with A-10 version on top and larger version with 32mm mount on bottom.
Was only practical to stage it using a D12-0 in the bottom, but that was way underpowered as it arced over a lot. Fortunately none of the stages crashed since it flew so slowly.

If it flies staged again, it would need an F in the first stage & some form of electronic staging

First stage has flown by itself on a 32mm F23 reload. Flew pretty well.
To allow for stacking, original triangular spin tab feet replaced with plywood squares at 45 degrees. More robust too.
Triple model with Centuri UFO.

3-stage flight at NSL-99 in Ardmore, AL
