FAI rules call for a 1:1 "workshop" drawing, to the scale of the model.

What was not realized until the 2000 WSMC is that the 1:1 drawing is not used at all or measuring, its existence simply adds a few points to the data pack score. The raw data in the data pack is calculated out by the judges. This led to problems with the shuttle since it has three different coordinate systems for the ET, SRB's, and Orbiter. Fortunately the reason for some "huge errors" was realized and the 1:1 was actually used.

CG and Fin layout used for making shuttle models fly stably. Even more forward CG is better.

First proven out in some 1986-88 flights of the old 1/84 shuttle stack.

Scale as needed for non-1/72 models

Slightly larger fins used by the 1999 NARAM and 2000 WSMC shuttle.

Tab portion of Lexan fin fits inside of a slot in the vac-formed SRB aft skit, with a mixture of Alumilite & micro-balloons inside to anchor the tab
