Endeavour Flights other than STS-47

Back to Main WSMC CD

Endeavour 105 Rockwell Patch
This is not all-inclusive.

Other images of Endeavour are on other pages (folders), including of course STS-47

Endeavour is the 5th operational shuttle orbiter. Built to replace Challenger.

Due to a schedule quirk, Endeavour's first mission was STS-49, then it flew STS-47.

Endeavour 1992 Patch

STS-49

As always there are minor differences on ET's and even SRB's. Particularly the placement and use of insta-foam (lighter color orange or even yellow) on portions of the ET and even SRB's

Also, some details of the same mission as-seen on rollout are different by the time of liftoff. Some tiles are left out for servicing work on the pad, including opening and closing of the bay doors.

But keeping that in mind, the two photos of STS-49 at right are useful for some details relative to STS-47/Endeavour and to more limited extent, shuttles in general.
Right: Rollout of STS-49 from the VAB, for Endeavour's first flight

Scanned in 2 parts and Photoshopped back together. "Medium" version.
Same as at right but 50% larger. Might not load in browser. Huge amount of detail visible.

Unknown mission, night landing
More recent ET's like this one have the stringers near the SRB's visible. Some ET's such as STS-47 & 49's had that region filled flush with foam.

Compared to STS-47 and 49, note lighter (sunburned) ET, change to NASA meatball markings & white elevon seals on Endeavour
