First ET. Used for MPTA static test firings at Stennis Space Center.
Pathfinder's original use, test-fitting and practicing before risking hoisting Enterprise into the Vibration Test Building at MFSC
Oddly noseless (no Lox tank) ET being placed in Saturn-V 1st stage test stand
Enterprise was flown into MSFC in March 1978 for full-stack vibration testing
Saturn-IB in foreground at MSFC is the same one placed at the welcome center on I-65 a year later (1979). Also note original Saturn-I & a few other rockets.

Enterprise lowered in place. The Vibration Test Building was built for testing the Saturn-V
ET nose (Lox tank) being tested
SRB stacking in Vibration Test Building.
The propellant was inert
SRB Forward Skirt & Frustum.
SSME's were tested at the Stennis Center in Missisissippi

This is for real, an Air Force plane with powerful side-looking camera took this shot of one of STS-5's SRB's tumbling.
Nose cap comes off to deploy drogue.
At the right time/altitude, the frustum separates, releasing the 3 main chutes,
SRB nozzle is plugged, air pumped in to make it float horizontally, then towed back
