Auction Ends at 10:14 PMCentral, Sunday March 28th

This is a RARE OOP kit!

The kit I got was a very early one, which did not come in the box or packaging that the later kits did.

The kit makes extensive use of vacuum formed parts for the orbiter, and for some "detail" pieces of the ET includling the Aft Dome.

The kit has an very detailed instruction manual for building and flying.

It includes clear acrylic tubing and clear acrylic fins for flight, which are removeable.

It was intended to fly on a "G50" motor which is long OOP. Today, a good "G" motor for it would probably be a G40. . Actually the NCR Shuttle was somewhat heavy, some flew it on "H" power, though I would not suggest a high-thrust H.

The early kits lacked the following items: 36" fabric parachute, and did not have "color" decals such as for the United States Flags.

Except for those, this kit has all of the parts, in good and like new condition, except for the balsa ET nose and one of the two "Aerofoam" SRB noses. I have bene using the blasa ET nose as a master to vac-form my own, and somehow mispalced one of the Aerofoam SRB noses.

I have replacement or BONUS parts which I will include in this kit:

  • Plastic vacuum formed ET nose, as I have used for my personal 1/72 shuttle models.
  • Two Cast Resin SRB noses, in addtion to the original Aerofoam SRB nose.
  • Three cast hollow SSME (Space Shuttle Main Engines) I made for my own model.
  • Monogram Space Shuttle Decal sheet. This is a MAJOR upgrade over the original NCR shuttle kit decals.
  • 36" white fabric parachute.
  • EXTRA set of ET/SRB tubes (two ET tubes and four SRB tubes, instead of one ET tube and two SRB tubes)

I am also willing to give advice to the winning bidder, on how they might be able to improve the kit to fly better. I have been building/.flying shuttle models since 1977. In several ways the NCR Shuttle was based on one of my early shuttle models from the 1980's, though I did not actually design this kit as some people thought I had. See this web page for info on some of my own shuttle models.

NOTE -This auction is for a model rocket kit only. In accordance with eBay policies, NO Rocket Motors are included!

An NCR Shuttle kit
built by
"Rocketaholic"

I have done shuttle models since 1977. By 1984, I built my first 1/72 shuttle model with ET & SRB's. Most of its flights in 1984 were with "Estes shuttle" type fins. That model is shown at right.

The North Coast Shuttle kit was NOT designed by me, but it did make use of many aspects of the 1984 boilerplate. Including the same kind of Estes shuttle fins that I also used in 1984. But the NCR Shuttle made use of clear acrylic tubing and clear acrylic fins.

At right, a photo of myself with a much later verison of a 1/72 shuttle model, built in 1999 and revised in 2002.

It is 32.5" tall and the ET is about 4.6" in diameter.
